I couldn’t resist the title and I mean no disrespect to this amazing woman who has ruled England for 60 years. In the 1000-year history of the monarchy only one other reigning sovereign has marked a diamond jubilee. That was Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth’s great-great-grandmother.
Queen Elizabeth II has met and been photographed with twelve American presidents.
I love Queen Elizabeth. I love her quiet dignity as she carries out her duties and obligations. I love her wisdom and humor. I love the way she has dealt with the scandals and lunacy that have marked some of the members of her family through the years.
I love that she continues to dress in the conservative, dignified way that she feels comfortable, even though trolls snap at her for looking unstylish and dowdy.
And I love her devotion through the years to her beloved dogs. If you were going to choose a dog breed that would be preferred by royalty, the Corgi would probably be near the bottom of the list. They are associated more with pastures than palaces.
