The Cody Auditorium is going to the dogs.
Corgis and Jack Russell terriers will be racing once again as part of the Park County Animal Shelter’s eighth annual Jack Russell Corgi Dog Races on Friday.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Races start at 7 p.m. and run every 15 minutes until 8 p.m.
Tasa Brost, who is running the event this year, said it will include a Calcutta auction for the dogs. Attendees will have the chance to bid on a number on a square, which will then be randomly attached to a dog.
Whoever picks the winner of each breed (Jack Russells are much more fleet of foot so head-to-head would likely be unfair) will win half of that pot with the other half going to the event proceeds, all of which go to the shelter.
Brost said that’s the No. 1 reason to spend the $10 per person ($30 for a family of four) entrance fee.
